Born in Wisconsin. Grew up in Redwood City, California. Studied history at San Francisco State. Hitchhiked to Virginia in 1971. I'm a retired teacher and former joke writer for late comedians Rodney Dangerfield, Phyllis Diller, and Joan Rivers. With no formal art training, I walk about with camera, and encounter unexpected short-lived moments of surprise, nostalgia, contrast, coincidence, and irony. Lately, I've been shooting with an $11 digital camera that captures (by the nature of its $11 technology) very unphoto-like, impressionistic images.
